Biased answer of course, but aside from financial gain I wouldn't trade what I am using now for any speaker under 30K. They still retail for what? $5700?

Klipsch LaScalla II's with JL subs get my vote. I would have that over the 60th Khorn.
Even better would be a pair of Klipsch commercial KPT-684's subs with the LS II's. jc

I'd have to agree with the Magnepan 3.6 and the ML Spire. The Verity Audio Rienze's I think are about 9000 bucks. Can't remember which Dynaudios, but stand mount, about 6500 a pair,
Everything else I've really enjoyed is a little bit beyond 10k. The Focal Diablos, about 13k The ML Summit X about 14k The Magnepan 20.1, about 11k Harbeth Monitor 40.1, about 12k I pretty much could live with any of these.... |

Why narrow the list down to retail, when you can buy used?

1. Devore Fidelity Super 8s and 9s - very musical speakers and easy to drive
2. Thiel 1.6 and 2.4/2.4SE - very neutral highly resolving speakers but need high quality associated equipment because they spotlight everything up the chain from them 3. PSB - Haven't heard PSB line but seem to offer good sound for good value 4. I second the Verity Rienzi as well as the new Verity Finns - phenomenal speakers in the $5-$8K range But I agree with Liquid Hifi that there seems to be a a hole in the $4K-$10K price point in terms of speaker offerings. Plenty of entry level and price-no-object offerings. There is probably an engineering challenge to deliver speakers in that price point that offer enough of an improvement over entry-level speakers to justify a premium. In the cost-no-object category, the money is spent on reducing speaker enclosure resonances through the use of advanced materials and bracing methods, esoteric drivers, and expensive materials in cross-over designs. It's ez enough to produce a nice sounding speaker at that price point because manufacturers aren't forced to make compromised choices to meet a specific price point. My two-cents worth anyways. Liquid Hifi do you have a dearth of speaker offerings in that mid-price point? Is that what prompts the question? Just curious. |

I have Klipschorns, I do enjoy them. I have the new speaker itch & the lack of desire to deal with tubes. Trade?
