Default MC2102 LED installation experiences.

Well, it was not a smooth installation.
I order a kit form eBay, form the only seller that make such a kit I think.

The manual does not make very professionally and does not explain anything much other than
How to make MC2102 into pieces.

The panel and meters light power supply is in AC,
But the kit only came with plain DC LED bulbs and nothing else.

So once install all bulbs were flickering like mad .
But I noticed that from the top of the bulbs which will eventually face forward once in place, the flickering was less noticeable than from around the bulbs.

So I put everything back and as expected. Bare eyes cannot detect flickering, despite they still flickered madly inside.

I hope this will not shorten life of power supply module.
I really wanted to insert some kind of small AC-DC converter for this.

The seller did not willingly answer my questions, a very
Poor customer service. Products are just plain and simple LEDs, instruction sub par. But end result was fine, got a fresh LED look as hope.

P.s. there is no need to put amp up on its back as suggested by instruction just to remove bottom screws.

Toga, I have no experience in such matters, but the gear looks beautiful. You are doing a super job with your new system. In another thread I mentioned that you might want to try a vintage American sealed system. The Large Advent Speaker is another example. I heard them back in the day and they were quite good. Mac also made some quite fine vintage sealed speakers. Just something to think about

Best,

Charles

The reason your LED's are flickering is half-wave rectification. LED's are simply a diode which is a one way valve/switch. They are converting half of the AC sinewave to DC. The simplest solution is to add a diode (1N4001 or 1N4004) and a capacitor, maybe 150uf, to smooth out the pulses.

Yes that is the reason. But I just hoped that the kit would provide small full wave rectifier. I was surprised to see
Only bulbs in the box. Thanks for idea.
