When the new version was a step back..
I have not yet experienced this, but suspect some have. When have you “upgraded” to the latest version of a component, cable, or speaker only to find the net result was a step backward?

I read that some successive versions of the Watt Puppy were deemed by some to not be steps forward. However, I felt my transition from Sasha 2 to Sasha DAW was a significant step forward.

Switching to bikes, my utility bike was downgraded all around except for the frame in the new version that came out a year later, nobody brought it, the bike co took it out of their stock. I guess the same thing can happen in mid/hi fi. Sony came out with their first BA in ear, I thought that's interesting I'l buy it, and it was just treble, with no mids or bass. Their H3 in ear was a rich feast with a huge sound stage, but almost zero mids, not that I minded at the time.
