I listen to a wide variety of music genres. I especially like some of the old country artists such as Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Bob Wills, and George Strait to name only a few.
Also, some of the newer artists like Alison Krauss. Artists like Ray Charles loved and recorded Country Music for the stories it tells. I feel people should keep an open mind about different music styles. Like Louis Armstrong I believe, "If it sounds good, it must be good." Last edited by Steady339; 06-29-2013 at 06:34 PM. |

Classical strangely enough was easier, for years I've listened to R&R or even Metal one minute, Mahler the next. In many ways I wish I'd appreciated Johnny Cash more before his passing. Crazy enough, the first time I heard him sing "Hurt" it floored me..That's all it took. So much music to listen to, so little time. |

Classical country - this album is huge. Produced by George Massenburg. 4 million copies sold, multiple Grammy awards. Gorgeous heartfelt killer vocals and musicianship. I use this regularly for component evals - the dynamics of Emmylou's voice will push your vinyl setup to be its best.

Since "Walk the Line" I found out that some country music can really touch me...

Check this out ya'll!
Patsy Cline on SACD straight from the 1/4" master tapes…. Patsy Cline-Greatest Hits-Hybrid Stereo SACD | Acoustic Sounds Mastered at Sterling Sound direct from the 1/4-inch master tape. This was a straight transfer, bypassing the console altogether. There was no EQ of any kind. A true direct transfer. You're hearing the master tape! |

I am not a country fan either, but may I suggest to you non-Country lovers to have a listen to Wille Nelson's "Milk Cow Blues".

Define country. Bluegrass a la Alison Krauss and Union Station? Absolutely. Johnny Cash? Absolutely. Guys and gals who wear black cowboy hats who've never been on a horse or wear more sequins than Liberace? I'll take a pass.
