Glad to hear all is right in your world … well with the exception of the wallet.

Thanks for the detailed solution.

Amazing they figured out the issue to that level of detail and succeeded in the repair. Very good to know!

Gentlemen....thank you, one and all.

Emile....yes, it is amazing. As long and frustrating as the ordeal was, throughout my discussions with the tech assigned to my unit, I was finding him to be quite sharp. I especially felt that way at the very end, when he was explaining how he eventually got there. Ironically, his name is Dan.

As an update on the faulty chips, I spoke to the US office of the supplier that I ordered the chips from. While I don't have a final answer yet, the indications are that I'll be refunded for the two faulty chips that were shipped. I provided documentation that they are forwarding to their colleagues in China. The fellow I spoke to today was really nice, I think they're going to do the right thing.

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the music and I have to admit I'm kind of ginned up knowing I have another MDA1000 inbound.

Terrific news Pete. I've lately become a big believer in having a backup at the ready should anything go Fubar with the primary.

FreddieFerric....absolutely. Of course, it could get very expensive to buy two of everything! However, in certain cases, with a very special component that may at best take a while to get repaired (if at all), then it deserves consideration. I believe the MDA1000 falls into that very special category.

Excellent news Pete, plus a trip to AC to boot. Winner winner! Do you plan to power up the back up unit a couple of times a month?

Very good news Pete, your MCD1000 will be able to make it sing again...

MCD1000 that we fixed 3 years ago, do you remember? Mine works flawlessly since this date, an I i think it is the case for you too.

Enjoy the music....

Jean-Marc.....thanks. Yes, my MCD1000 has worked just fine since I did that minor repair going on three years ago now. Adding the felt bumper to the back of the tray rail did the trick.

The MCD1000 and MDA1000 sound fabulous together. I think it's still the best redbook player setup you can have....okay it won't play SACD, but I can play those on my Oppo UDP-205. But honestly, SACD has never interested me much for some reason. Maybe it's because the MCD/MDA sounds so good I never saw a need, I don't know. In any event, I've yet to purchase even one SACD.

I do play Hi-res files occasionally through my MDA1000, using my laptop and and Bryston BUC-1.

As Dan used to say....color me happy.

That's great news, Pete! Many of us have been through at least one repair saga and while it's never fun, it's always been worth it to me after the component is repaired and returned to service. And now you have a backup - sweeeet!
