Default MB20 Bluetooth Transceiver [Owners]

Has anyone purchased and put into use the MB20 Bluetooth Transceiver.

If so, any feedback with both pros and cons?

How do you use it? Do you play from your phone? etc...

What's your experience with your high resolution music purchases and playing them via your device?

Thank you.

Just BT from my phone. Sounds good. Haven’t tried hi-res yet.

Very easy to use and links up immediately….unlike the MB50 I owned - which sucked.

Default It's a homerun from McIntosh!

I've been using it for few weeks now and it's simply amazing. What makes the MB20 special and unrivaled is it's high quality internal ADC chip ( analog to digital) output, in both RCA and fully balanced. Most of the Bluetooth devices on the market do one or the other decently, either recieve or transmit but never before has there been a device of this caliber that does Bluetooth as both a receiver and transmitter this well. So far I've only used it as transmitter to my Ifi Go Blu and it's simply magical with both my Grado and Sennheiser. Remember the headphone jack on phones is dead so Bluetooth is future and this was McIntosh's attempt to provide much better Bluetooth audio but in process they also created a device that is also a magical transmitter for all analog buffs like myself.

I have one on my list. It looks really cool - love the balanced in\out connections.

I like the idea of going analog to digital blue tooth........

I had thought about one, but decided it was far easier to just add a DAC to my Mac Mini and just use that since all of the music on my phone is also on my Mac

Good point.

I thought about this—The M1 Mac Mini and the latest macOS can serve as a high resolution Airplay endpoint. Its not exactly clear, from Apple, what can be sent from the iOS device via Apple music, in terms of format.

Apple Music supports High Resolution Audio. Playing music to a McIntosh component with a USB input should be treat.

Still, using a bluetooth device that supports aptx HD and some 24 bit FLAC files streamed via BT to a MB20 is very convenient.

I was originally using the headphone output directly to the Linn. When I added the DAC using USB output on the Mac I couldn't believe how much better it sounded. Now it is streaming to my C28. Soon to be a MX130
