2023 Nissan Z
Just as the rumors predicted, the seventh-gen Z-car is powered by Nissan's 3.0-liter VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 producing 400 hp and 350 pound-feet of torque. In the 2023 Z, this engine makes peak power at 6,400 rpm, peak torque from 1,600 to 5,600 rpm, and revs to 6,800. Small-diameter turbos and an electronic variable valve timing intake system are said to contribute to better response and fuel efficiency.
Transmission choices include an optional nine-speed automatic with aluminum paddle shifters or the standard six-speed, close-ratio manual. The latter is accompanied by a high-performance Exedy clutch, a carbon fiber composite driveshaft, and, on the higher Performance trim, rev-matching—a technology first pioneered by this car's predecessor and subsequently adopted by many other manual performance cars. https://www.thedrive.com/news/42014/...IC_aN_zMisgAkU |

That will be a sweet ride - part of the challenge to today's designs are the constraints due to safety regulations. Serge, at first glance of your first post photo, the rear end reminded me of a Mustang (no offense meant to any Ford or Nissan fans!).

I like most of the design except the front which looks a bit too modern and unappealing to me. Last edited by PHC1; 08-19-2021 at 10:16 PM. |

The price is supposed to be around $40k base. Not bad for a 400HP coupe that also offers a manual and rev matching down shifts.
You get a 255HP 2.0L Toyota Supra for $43k and the 382HP version will set you back at least $51k and $54k for premium trim, so the Nissan Z is a fairly good value. Not to mention the Supra does not even offer a manual! How insulting to the enthusiasts! |

The rear design is vaguely similar to the 300Z generation of cars.

The design of this new Z is an obvious and intentional retro appeal effort. I think for most brands that have had success in the past and their products became icons, the designers would be wise to add tasteful elements of the history that translate well into the modern version. IMO, Nissan did a very good job. The 240/280z are classic designs that became timeless icons over the decades. |

Only thing I have left of my '77 280Z. My first new car. Just loved it! Color was 110 Persimmon.
