After watching the few outstanding reviews on the Meze Empyreans and knowing just how capable many of today's headphones are, I am wondering how the current younger generation of headphone audiophiles will ever transition to 2 channel systems. They are absolutely spoiled by the performance.

I am not sure that 2 channel audio will ever be able to quite keep up with the progress of headphones. As it is, it takes many multiples to even come close to a similar performance of these headphones with 2 channel system (if the room does not muck up the response as it so often does).

It's like driving a go kart with the performance of a McLaren from the age of 3 and then getting your drivers license at 16 and expecting to be wowed by a first car?

That's not too horrible. I wonder how they will stack up against my Abyss and SR-009's.

Judging by the frequency responses of the three alone and FWIW, the Empyrean will probably sound like the most overall balanced headphone across the frequency spectrum. Translation, a slightly different presentation as the Abyss and SR-009s are top notch cans in themselves.

At $3k, the Empyrean seems to be priced more fairly as it has been easily compared and preferred by some reviewers to the HiFiMan Susvara at $6k.

Nope, that’s not it. I think it has something to do with a woman.

She only dates guys with top notch headphones from Eastern Europe...

Speaking of which, I used to live a stone throw over the fence with Romania. In fact the land was Romania before WWII. Used to get TV stations from Romania which were interesting but I did not understand the language as it was different.
