It's interesting how much people love the EB1i. Especially since it's been discontinued by PMC.

I set my sights on the OB2i because of the superior midrange driver. The EB1i has the same mid my OB1i has. Still great, but I figure the OB2i will be somehow better...

Dan,
I was thinking of selling them but your comment reminded to me how much I love them.
I won't sell them.
Who knows ? Maybe one day I will need a change and they will come back in my main room. This won't cost me a penny for once. .
I'm going to set them up in the second system.

I do not see how the mids could be better than the EB1i medium driver. I never heard any speaker sounding better for the mids.
They even kick the ass of my full range pannels !

I always find discussion of PMCs interesting, but as I am not an owner, I find the nomenclature for the different models very hard to keep track of; it's like trying to keep track of the Audio Note line. Or Harley-Davidsons! I always have to go back to the PMC Web site to know which models you guys are talking about, and the PMC Web site actually doesn't have the best photographs that show the differences between the speakers, especially with respect to scale (how big they are compared to one another). When I saw the photos for the speaker model Jeff Whitlock has, and then I was over at his house and actually saw the speaker for real, I was very surprised at just how big the speaker really was.

Jérôme.......I think this is a wise decision. At $16,000 list, the PMC EB1i's perform well above their price range. You would have to spend a lot more money to beat their sound. I agree, they are relatively large, particularly their depth, but their sound is worth every millimeter, in my opinion. You are so right about the possibility of the EB1i's returning to your main system one day, and you won't be out a dime to make that happen, not to mention the money saved on speakers right now for your second system. Wire them up and enjoy.

This reminds me of my C-J Premier 17. I haven't decided if I will keep my CT-5 (an urge to try the ET-5 beckons at some level), but I will NEVER sell my Premier 17...it's just too much of a honey to ever part with. You can always find new stuff to love, but don't part with stuff you KNOW you love!

Stephen,

I listened to the C4s in Paris a few months ago and the mids were very good but to my ears, not at the level of the PMCs.
