Default IB2 pro vs IB2i

Is there a difference between the studio IB2 and the IB2i versions?

jaxwired.......Looking at PMC's website, it appears the IB2 has been replace with the IB2S. Comparing it to the IB2i, they both share the exact same drivers, cabinet dimensions and weight. The pro version only comes in Neo Black. The home version has a choice of four veneer finishes.

Here are the links to both models:

IB2S | PMC Loudspeakers

IB2i | PMC Loudspeakers

Perhaps Ian from PMC will chime in a add to the information.

The IB2 is only available in the Neo finish (no wood finishes), doesn't use the i tweeter like the IB2i do, power rating is much less at 500 watts compared to the 900 watts the IB2i are rated at, slightly different cross over.....and of course the price.

Jaxwired, I have the IB2S speakers and they are spectacular. I was not aware of the lower power rating, might want to check with Ian at pmc who stated all ib2 speaker series have around 500 watts rating (though I've seen IB2i speakers drive mc 1.2ks to clipping with no problem As for the i tweeter, the IB2S can be converted to an i series (tweeter + crossover) for around $1200 but I was told the difference was negligible/not worth the cash. The neo black IMOP is not wife friendly in the living room but is great in the basement, man cave or studio (they are industrial looking compared to the nice wood finished versions. Either way, you will love your IB2 for its incredible mids!

the tweeter was one off their upgrades to their lineup that gave a tiny improvement and as you can see for $1200 is not at all worth it.They are a great speaker but some improvements dont quite add up.However, when you throw in the tweeter and a 20yr warranty, well that speaks for itself.
