Is the preamp C12000 better than the trio C1000C+P+T?
Is it time to go for a C12000 coming from the beloved C1000 C+P+T?
What are the pros and the cons? Has anyone made this comparison? Is it worth? Thanks in advance. Jean-Marc. |

Time marches on so the newer pre is probably at least slightly better. That said the C1000 is still IMHO the best looking pre Mac has produced that 3D faceplate is timeless. Tough call.

To me, at best, a somewhat lateral move. You have timeless preamp.

I traded from a C500C/T to a C 1100 and it was a huge improvement in clarity and presence. Some say the C500C/T sounds exactly the same as it’s C1000 brothers. Not sure as I never had the chance to compare the two.
