Has anyone an experiense with UpNP feature of 1021?
I have an idea to use it as a player and a renderer. Synology NAS as an UPnP server and Kinsky as a control point. And I don't want to use additional PC or MAC as a player. Just NAS, IPAD and Boulder 1021. And local network equipment, of course. Is it possible? |

This is what the Boulder website says.
But the most innovative aspect of the 1021 Disc Player is that in order to make music it doesn’t need a disc at all: When connected to a computer network, the 1021 can decode and play digital music files streamed from a media server or computer anywhere in the home—with absolutely no loss of realism. FLAC, WAV, MP3, ALAC, OGG, AIFF, it’s all covered. Ultra-high resolution music file playback up to 32-bits or 192 kHz from either a disc or streaming is simply icing on the cake. The odd part is that nowhere in the units comprehensive owners manual that you can see online does it discuss this capability. You woul probably have to contact Boulder directly to get the latest scoop. My dealer had recently taken one of these in trade and I thought about giving it a try until I went thru the manual and could find no info on connecting to a attached device for playing stored music. |

I can not get this device for a try. Just prepay, wait two months and use. |

1021 & UPnP/DLNA Streaming
The 1021 can indeed render streamed music from a NAS (as long as it's a UPnP compliant server) via a local network. No additional computer would be necessary. The manual has a supplement that explains all of this that is shipped with the unit, though I've just noticed that this isn't posted on the 1021 page of our web-site.
Most control points can be used, however there is one hitch with Kinsky: the volume control does not work. This is the only control point where we've had this problem. All others seem to function perfectly well in this regard. Last edited by Masterlu; 05-02-2014 at 08:11 PM. |
