Sad to think that if movie theaters go away completely, we will never be able to share that experience with the youngsters.

I was upset when the Barnum’s “Greatest Show On Earth” ceased to exist.

The circus was magic. I guess our grandkids will never know what it’s like to see a circus. It was a big part of my childhood and our culture where I grew up. I can’t imagine not having that wonderful experience here in the US for my grandkids. Ringling Bros.-Barnum and Bailey was around for over 125 years.

I suppose the movie The Greatest Showman would be a poor replacement for you.

For Linda and I watching a movie at home is a waste of time. I want to see it on a large screen while simultaneously enjoying the experience with a lot of other patrons.

For us the current quality of streamed content be it TV, movies or 4K is so good that any differences are not even worth thinking about. I can say I cannot remember the last time I thought, gee I wish the picture was better. For me it is no different than me wasting time comparing Tidal content versus a CD or whats saved on a server.

To each his own.

I love the nostalgia of the theater.

... not even if the picture stutters or pixelates, or vertical or horizontal banding is evident? I have seen some decent streamed content, but I can say I have many more times when I say to myself that I wish the picture and/or sound were better.

We live in a small town - our only theater closed last year. You don’t realize how valuable it is until it’s gone.

My home theater far outperforms it in every way, but it was still very fun to go to the theater for new releases and experience the film as it was meant to be experienced - with other people.

Here in the land of 10 Mbps internet there is no such think as 4K streaming so we still buy 4K content and it looks spectacular on my calibrated JVC 4K pj.

Streamed content is variable with poor black levels being my biggest complaint.

I have been able to upgrade to I Gig Internet (seems to be just a name, not a reliably delivered speed.) It helps but can't get around the fact that streamed material is heavily compressed.

All the video streaming services perform a connectivity test before they start - that test determines the bitrate your internet service can handle and so the amount of compression you will see.
