You're all making me feel pretty darn smart as I wait for paint, carpets and other details for my room with 3 X 20 Amp and 1 X 15 amp dedicated lines on their own whole surge protection plus whisper clips and at least a second level of isolation. (Actually not so smart as I have been reading and learning for awhile from all the deep expertise on this site)

With any luck, I will be able to start putting equipment in this weekend and get on with the optimization journey. I know it is going to be bright at the start but am really looking forward to the fun.

Ivan, have you ever considered hiring an audio design firm with the pro certifications and the background to design you a reference listening room? Not to say that what you have built already isn't already meeting a certain high standard level. But a few acoustical engineers and some test equipment here and there just may transform your listening rooms to the next level.

Maybe lease your rooms as mastering suites?

Start making a higher salary sooner? I think I made good choices for the money I had.

About 11 years ago, i switched jobs, and we picked out a house. I put in a dedicated line prior to moving in. Turns out I just lucked out to accidentally pick a house with a large asymmetrical downstairs room with a three sides underground where speakers obviously needed to go against the central underground back wall. The soundstage is dead... I mean dead silent. It is amazingly good audio room... my dealer remarks every time he is over. The whole floor has turned into my man-cave, fireplace, library, home office and dressing room. I couldn't have planned this. Guess it is better to be lucky than good.

It's easy to say "start with a larger room" but if I was to do re-do my listening room over (and it's a small room) I would start with properly sized speakers for the room - you really can have "too much speaker" (in smaller rooms) and basically I would work my way backwards from there.
