Most would categorize as tangential to jazz, but incorporating improvisation and played by musicians schooled in jazz:

Oregon - Out of the Woods an Elektra LP with the original lineup of Ralph Towner, Glen Moore, Collin Walcott and Paul McCandless
Oregon - Music of Another Present Era a Vanguard LP with Towner, Moore, Walcott and McCandless
Collin Walcott - Grazing Dreams an ECM LP with Walcott joined by John Abercrombie, Don Cherry, Palle Danielsson and Don Um Romao
Codona 3 an ECM LP with Collin Walcott, Don Cherry and Nana Vasconcelos
Zakir Hussain - Making Music an ECM LP with Zakir Hussain on tablas, Hariprasad Chauasia on flutes, Jan Garbarek on tenor and soprano and John McLaughlin on guitar
