Jay Jay Johnson - The Eminent - Volume Two

Fantastic album from this great trombone player.
Recorded in '55, with the very best musicians of that time.

Playing this one for you Julian, because it has some really nice organ on it:

Lou Donaldson - Here 'Tis

This album really swings.
Very accessible bop from the early 60s.

I picked up a JJ Johnson album recently. He was definitely a trailblazer and very underrated, if anything.

Ella Fitzgerald sings the Duke Ellington song book
With Duke Ellington and his Orchestra

We just finished this 3-CD set.
We were listening while doing some work.
What a marvelous set this is!
Very well recorded too.

Now listening for the second time to:

Kevin Hays - New Day

Recorded this year.
Sounds already familiar, after also hearing him live in New York beginning of this month.
Very accessible.
I would give it 3,5/5 both for sound and performance.

Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock, Jack DeJohnette - Standards In Norway
ECM

Keith Jarrett's standards trio is incomparable in this recording. Gary Peacock's bass solo on Little Girl Blue is one of the most beautiful and lyrical bass solos in jazz. This is one of my desert island discs for sure.
