Why get the volume controls? Those are really only meant for someone using the IO as a single source analog front end (i.e. no preamp) Your just adding noise and distortion to the chain with an extra set of volume controls otherwise.

Had an IO with two power supplies and it's a great phono stage, but if you aren't ready to really sort the tubes and keep multiple, matched spares on hand, you are really going to be hating life, especially if you use it much. The IO's EAT tubes.

Are you sure you really want about 30 tubes glowing all the time just to play records? And, the IO takes about two hours to really sound its best.

As a Ferrari owner, you fully understand the concept of the awesome car for the perfect sunny day, and that's what the IO is. As a daily driver, you might end up disappointed with this one...

Get to be good friends with Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio (a fellow Ferrari owner and very nice guy to boot), so you can always have a supply of primo tubes on hand. Using an IO with the stock tubes is like running your Ferrari on 87 octane regular.

The Guys at AESTHETIX tell me that with multiple (2) inputs, the Io must come with the volume control. What was your daily usage like when you ran the Io? And what was your mean time to failure for tubes?

I was given the same warning when getting into my first Ferrari and first Porsche Bi-turbo. I dogged those cars quite regularly (daily commutes to NYC, 20k+ miles/yr). I can't say that my experience was marked by an increased sense of equipment failure. Heck, I've had more problems out of Volvo's and Ford's!

It would appear that I'm just a little bit pregnant on this one. My unit hopefully ships by early next week.
