I had a chance to examine my Ixos speaker cables and my original 5 runs from 2002 are the model 6003 which is 13AWG. The 11AWG from that time period was the 6006 model. My more recent 35' (not 30' like I thought) pair is from the current generation, the XHS706-W which is also 13AWG.

So by going with Kimber 8TC for my 4 surrounds I would be stepping up from 13AWG wire to 9AWG, that seems like a nice decent step up for those long runs to the surrounds. I would stick with a 50' run for the rears and increase the length from 35' to 40' I think for the surrounds because over the years I have not had the flexibility of putting my equipment rack in more out of the way positions because the 35' length was a bit too short.

I have encouraged a number of people to move to Kimber 8TC. My friend Jérôme visited me from Paris, and while here I gave him two lengths of Kimber 8TC to try between his MC2301 amps and PMC EB1i speakers. Jérôme installed the 8TC speaker cable when he returned home, and it has remained his choice of speaker wire. Kimber 8TC continues to win top awards from every major audio publication, so I can't be the only one who appreciates this excellent speaker cable.
Kimber 8TC is simply the best speaker cable I listened to. No plan to change it. Thanks a lot Dan !

I recently switch from 4TC to the Monocle XL's and am extremely happy with them. It's amazing the difference a cable can make! Everything sounds better, but one of my favorite changes that came with this switch is the lifelike SLAP of the drum skins that really stand out compared to the 4TCs.

The Monocle XL is a great loudspeaker cable...
