The Moon remote is outstanding. But, as an accessory, it retails for $500. Thankfully it comes standard with the Evolution line.

I had a demo REF 9se for about 6 weeks with a metal remote similar to the one that came with my REF 5SE preamp. I also ordered a REF6se preamp. When I got my new CD9se it had a cheap plastic remote. I will admit it bothered me a lot. Makes me feel like a chump. You buy CD player that cost as much as a new car... something you could drive hundreds of thousands of miles and they give you a $5 plastic remote. If someone came over to my house to listen to my system I would be embarrassed to hand it to them... it is an insult to the buyer. When I was young I pursued sound quality at any price... including ugly. I am retired enjoying the rewards of my career. I have speakers beautifully crafted in Italy... well you get the idea. I am not a happy camper. I talked to my audio guy. He told me the new owner understood this was a really stupid move and is changing back to the metal ones and promised to get me one for my CD9se and for my REF6se preamp when it comes. I am much relieved as this is something I would have had a hard time letting go.

That Boulder one MasterLu showed looks a little wide but elegant.

Is anyone using a third-party custom remote with their Ref6? Any suggestions? I have the metal remote, but I am not even crazy about that one. I wouldn't mind getting something universal that's nicer.

I have been indirectly in communication with ARC through my audio guy. David Gordon wrote a really nice letter saying they are very aware problem and are working to remedy it, asking me to be patient. I guess the manufacturer stopped making them and the previous owner let it slide. So they are sourcing a new manufacturer. I am happy as long as there is a solution in the works. My REF6SE arrived in town today. Hopefully, I will get it tomorrow.
My audio guy has been very happy with the new owner. He knows him. He is moving to Minnesota to be hands on and loves high end audio and has experience. It sounds like it is really a good move getting out from under the McIntosh wing.

I am very optimistic. I have heard about how they have upgraded their approach to design. Then there is the manufacturing, I suspect any deficiencies there will be handled by the new owner, Trent.

I use one remote to control everything in my system. It eliminates a lot of clutter.

Well sounds hopeful. The meters on my original 160S started behaving erratically. Evidently meters sourced from China. To ARC’s credit the entire amp was replaced, although I personally would prefer a replaceable part for simplicity and cost long term. New meters reportedly come from same source as McIntosh; however, the lighting between the two meters is of clearly different intensity. Perhaps ARC will return to form follows function under new leadership.
