I really do appreciate the Oppo's dual HDMI outputs. One for audio only. Saved me a lot of money by not having to upgrade to a 4K AVR. I'm not aware of any other manufacturer that took the time to put that feature in their units.

I also think there are a lot (a whole lot) of people like myself that will continue to insist upon purchasing physical media. Streaming may be fine, and indeed the future, but like vinyl and CD's have proved, there will remain a healthy market for disc spinners.

Perhaps in time more credible information will come forward giving more detail to Oppo's horrific decision.

You can get the Alto but it is not 4k. What you can do though if you buy or own the physical discs is use the ultra-violet or movies anywhere code/voucher, pay a bit more and download the movie on your system.

Ok, so not a disc player and therefore not a substitute for the Oppo. Apples and oranges. I think those that are in the market for an Oppo are more interested in the ability to play 4K discs, Blu-ray and SACD.

You can purchae the disc from the K shop and have it on your system in half an hour. Or as mentioned if you own the disc you just you the code to download it. Quality is identical to Oppo or even better.

Not really a substitute but a much better solution. Nobody has complained after they experienced it.

Just get a cheap player for those emergency disc viewings where you cannot wait half an hour to download the movie. [emoji4]

You could get the Kscape M700 Disc Vault. It stores 320 physical discs, and plays them. This includes the M Class player.

Oppo thinking about one more production run of 205. There is a sign up sheet listed to leave contact info, email. Just thought I would pass it along.
Thank you. I just signed up. I though about buying one earlier in the week when they were still available and talked myself out of it.

I have recently spent a great deal of time and money creating my 4K home theater. I have Movies Anywhere, but it's not the same.
