I wonder why the ACS has 3 Ethernet outputs ? any explanation where those 3 ethernet cable go ?

PS : In my opinion the internal storage on the ACS is quite redundant with the internal storage of the Aurender player supposed to be attached to the ACS, so IMO the ACS make more sense attached to a streaming DAC that do not have internal storage like a dCS Rossini, a Brinkmann Nyquist, .....

bmichels.......My understanding is LAN 1 is the network connection, while LAN2 and LAN3 are Ethernet connections for daisy chaining additional ACS 10 media servers.

Well... I guess we really need to wait to get full information from Aurender about it's positioning and it's features. Si far booth are quite vague to me....

I wonder what is the ripping speed in devices like this one. Is it the same as that of a computer or does the unit has to play the entire CD at normal speed while ripping?

nicoff.......I can't imagine that ripping would be in real time. The typical rip time for a CD with error checking using dBpoweramp CD Ripper is under 5 minutes. My old McIntosh MS750 music server would rip CD's in under 7 minutes. I suspect the Aurender ACS10 will be competitive with current ripping software. It would be a complete design failure to rip in real time.

You can also use the two additional LAN ports to directly connect to another Aurender.

The ACS isn't a NAS - it's a CD transport/ripper with internal hard drives. It does not provide redundancy in its storage and apparently doesn't offer options for outputting beyond ethernet.

Of course, the ACS needs to be network enabled for the Conductor App to work, to receive metadata from the internet, and for accessing the data from your pc. But is that the best way to route digital data to the N10? I would think that AES/EBU or USB cable for example would be better. Isn't that how most CD transports and rippers connect up in other systems?
Some of the information you posted isn’t exactly accurate. The ACS10 comes from the factory in a RAID configuration where the drives are mirrored so there is redundancy. The user has the option to combine the two drives into on virtual drive, but in that mode redundancy is lost.

Aurender claims the best way to connect the N100, N10, Etc. is via a LAN cable. I have onnected my X100L, N100H in this manner and it works great. Aurender states this eliminates potential noise from a router and your network. As far as your other statement, the ACS10 has a USB output for connecting to a DAC. This USB port is identical to the one in the N10.

Being that the ACS10 comes with its drives in a mirrored state it does in fact look and act as a NAS on your network. Obviously acting as a standard NAS isn’t its intended purpose.

The ripping is very quick. Faster than ripping with dBPoweramp on my Apple computer
