I confess, I too am a victim of the great Shindo Switchcraft Connector Conspiracy. I was forced, against my will, to pay $1.88 x 4 =$7.52 for my Switchcraft connectors. Just wait -that didn't even include the set I needed to connect my TT!!! Another $3.76 out the door!!! Dang you dealers!!!

All kidding aside, just pointing out if you'd prefer to spend money elsewhere in your system, you can always consider the DIY approach. Personally, I hate listening to cables, and found lots more bang for the buck elsewhere.

Bottom line is Shindo IC's break if you so much as look at them funny. I don't know why there can't be something put on to reinforce the junction between the plug and the outer shield. I have had two fail with not exactly harsh treatment. Not good enough IMO

I'm currently running DIY cables with Switchcraft connectors. Until I auditioned Shindo cables, I had never heard such a massive difference from just one pair of interconnects (I've owned more "exotic" cables in other systems in the past). Perhaps there are other cables that would be better, but - wow are these good cables in my system, and I can't wait to have them in every day.

Yes, auditioning stuff A/B can be a pain since it takes away from listening time, but it's all in the name of progress!

Um, what? I have never had one break and we use them in the shop everyday and unplug and replug them all the time. Never had a problem.

The same can't be said of the WBT Nextgens on the Nordost stuff, or the Eichmann Bullets on other cables we sell. Those things are fragile.

No problems here with my Shindo or A23 interconnects. Sorry to hear you had a problem with yours. Bottom line is no cable or gear is totally problem free. That said, I feel quite confident my dealer and/or Tone would take care of any such issues. Cheers -Don

Hi Countingbackwards -I'm a little confused with your post. Are you currently using DIY ICs, Shindo, or both?

Nice setup btw. I heard VTLs with an Aurieges at Coup de Foudre years ago. I never did do the VTLs, but hearing that combination convinced me you didn't need to go full Shindo to enjoy wonderful sound.

My Giscours / Manley Snappers combo is wonderful.
I would say that 80 % of the magic of Shindo lies in preamps.

80% sounds a bit high to me (I love my Sinhonias), but I certainly agree with your point.
