I don't understand the attraction of Sonos. Please educate me.
I have a 2010 Mac Mini and an iPad with about 500gb of AIFF music on a USB hard drive. I sometimes use Amarra Mini as the sound engine. The music server works great with the PS Audio DAC and an Airport Express for my bedside DAC and headphones system. The iPad or iPhone does the controlling. No monitor on the Mac Mini.
What does a Sonos offer that I don't already have? Does it sound better than my setup?

Mike.....I assumed you have checked out the Sonos website? I'm not sure if it sounds any better or worst than your set-up but it seems to work great for me.
Here's a link to their site....lots of good info there.... Endless Music Possibilities with Sonos Wireless Music System What I like about it... "Music Services"....great commercial-free music of any genre you like,unlike a stand-alone tuner "Internet Radio"...I can even listen to radio stations in SF; let alone around the world "Music Library"...access music stored on your HD Multi-room music in any room of your home,even different genre in those rooms. I'm sure others will chime in on their experiences with the Sonos.

You should look at SonoS as adding capability to your set-up rather than just replacing it. First it allows you to add multiple locations in your home without slowing down your home network. SonoS creates its own Network so when it is "playing music" it does not impact anything else on your network. You can use it to extend your own network to unwired locations in your house. A couple of examples. I was able to eliminate a AirPort Express by connecting my MS-300 to it so the unit could go out and pick up album info from GraceNotes. Second, my TV and Blu-Ray player required network connections and I had none in that part of the house. I placed a SonoS ZonePlayer with my HT set-up which not only gave me access to all of the music on my MS-300 to play thru my HT it also allowed me to have wireless access to the internet for the TV and BluRay for updates. I do not need to have a computer on to listen to my music. I just grab my iPhone or my wife uses her iPad to select music via the SonoS Ap to play the music on my MS-300 via our whole house system though the 300 sits in my 2-channel room. My wife loves she does not have to turn anything on but the iPad. The interface is darn good too. Jim
