Age Old Question - "Worth It"?
I now by the time Jeff reads this, he will be wondering if I do need my head examined cause I had discussed this topic with him, not once, but twice and even though we had agreed this is not such a good deal nor worth the upgrade, I simply had to ask AGAIN!
Such a "nagging old man" I must be!  Yes, I am now presented with an opportunity to change/trade up my older pair (2.75 years old, Black color DSP8k) to the LATEST and "Limited" WHITE Color Meridian DSP8.2k. Differences? Well, on paper: 1. Latest 150wx5 watts per speaker as against current (100x2 + 150x3). 2. Standard connections vs SpeakerLink. 3. Limited WHITE Color (supposedly costs more). 4. Performance differences? I really dont know for sure ..... Now, why am I bringing this up again? Its because my local dealer keeps calling me about it. Told him its too expensive a trade (he asked for S$40 plus my old pair) and I am not so smitten with WHITE Color in the past! Now, suddenly, he is making me an offer I seemingly cant resist as he is now trying to better the trade off what I can get for a standard New pair (call it DSP8.2k)! I know S$40k can buy me a lot of improvement but for the one brand Meridian concept which I am for, I dont think there is much to add on with the same monies except a DSP Processor, the 861v6 and a centre channel speaker DSP7.2k HC which Howie, my good friend, advised me to go for Tri-Field listening experience. Space is still a concern in my small house and this move to a DSP Processor cum Centre channel speaker could "wreck" my current lay-out of my simple STEREO only system. Whereas, with just the change to the latest DSP8.2k speakers, I had an entire metamorphosis of my Meridian system, bringing it to the LATEST TOP STEREO model combination! Please give me your feedback ... worth? Not worth? Stay, etc, ... I needed the answers (sorry Jeff, Howie) to really pushed my mind to either go for the kill, or kill the idea once and for all. Moreover, deep in my mind, I can use the same monies, which is lesser than the original asking S$40k, to spend to complete the SECOND system with the Leben CS300XS as focus. Ok, go ahead - shoot! I welcome the advises Cheers!

Jerry........That's a lot of cash for a very small upgrade that I don't think you will hear. Also, white DSP8.2k's are going to irritate you after a short period of time. White will be in conflict with the beauty of the system as it is now. If I were to lust after the top Meridian speakers, they would have to be the beautiful black ones like you already own. Tell the dealer to stop bothering you, or offer him such a low ball number for the white DSP8.2k's that if he goes for it you will make out like a bandit.
