Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. Below is my current system and cables. I am in the process of buying B&W 802 Diamonds (V2). My dealer uses TA cables in the demo room with these speakers. And he also uses them in his personal system. What I am wondering is which line of TA cables I should go for after I buy the 802's? And also, how does the upgrade program work? What % do you typically get from your current cable to go towards the new cable? Another note, I am planning on buying another Rotel RB-1090 when it comes up on the used market. I would like to bi-amp the 802's. So buying two pairs of speaker cables will be necessary. Thank you for your help and I look forward to your input and opinions.

BWLover Welcome to AA

As you move up the Transparent line the prices go up very quickly. Only you can decide where you draw the line in the sand.

My suggestion is that the Ultra MM2 level is a nice place to start. If you can get into the Reference level you will be very happy. In general when you use the trade-up program you will received 70% of the current list price for your products towards the a higher line product. Anything else would be between you and your dealer.

For example lets say you paid list price for a pair of Musicwave Ultra MM2 speaker cables at $3045. If you were going to purchase a Reference level that currently lists for $6625 you would have a trade in of ($3045x 70%) or about $2100. So "worst case" you would owe about $4500.

BWLover, welcome! Jim is right - try Ultra if you can swing it, and trade up to Reference. Reference is where it gets much better. But Super and Ultra are good starting points - I actually started at the bottom, went to Super, then to Reference.

Here is my personal opinion about your bi-amping: It seems like a very complicated and expensive way to go. I would spend that money on getting a newer, more powerful amp (like the MC452) and just run a single set of wires. If you are talking about Reference level wires, then you are in the ballpark where you could afford to upgrade the amp instead. Just my 2 cents.

EDIT
----------------
By the way, congrats on your 802's! They are great speakers (I used to own a pair myself) and you will love them tenfold over the 683's

Transparent publishes their msrp on their site. Pretty cool.

My dealer often hooks me up with b stock. I've saved a lot that way.

When it says "prices from" what length is that based on?

Just click the drop down box to see the available lengths. As soon as you select a length it will display the price.
