Default Rock n Roll Spkrs

Looking for another set of spkrs that shine with rnr music.

Considering the following:

JBL L-300 Summit (of which I have found no pairs for sale)

JBL 4430 (of which I have found no pairs for sale)

JBL 4367 (of which are very expensive to me) prolly $9k pre owned or demo

Infinity Kappa 9's (obtainable ATM) for under $2k

In my estimation the K9's are the easiest on the wallet to obtain. But Im a bit apprehensive about them damaging my new MC amp with their demanding current diet.

Im in no super hurry but dont wanna make a hasty decision due to my limiting budget.

Any recommendations from this audiophile group? TIA

I leave the budget question to your wallet, but at whatever price you decide, I would buy used if I was tight on cash. And $2K on speakers is tight compared to a McIntosh amp. Also, if you buy used speakers today, maybe you can sell them used for just a bit less in a few years when you can trade up?

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to damage a new McIntosh amp--Power Guard, Sentry Monitor. You might ask your dealer about this

Aren't the Klipsch Heritage speakers considered good for RnR?

I haven't heard them yet, so grain of salt and all that, but you might want to investigate the new KLH 5. $2000 new and I have seen reviews that compare them favorably to more expensive Klipsch and JBL models. There are quite a few reviews on YouTube of the KLH 5 to check out.

The JBL 4367s are great with rock and roll! I still have a pair (only replaced by much more expensive Kharma db11s) that were great with McIntosh C50/MC601s.

Good thoughts gents! The PWK line is awesome but I recently sold my beautiful pair of 1990 Khorns as I found the horns a bit fatiguing.

Ive read the KLH reviews n they look good so far. Ive also read the reviews of the L-100 75th anniv model and they look promising also, albeit closer to 5k new.

Its tough when the vintage spkrs u crave r hard to come by and when they do the owners r trying to hit u over the head with the asking prices...

Grey market shop close by is tryin to sell big JBL's for $15k.....such a turn off

A buddy of mine has multiple systems and just picked up a pair of L-100 75th Anniv Edition. He LOVES them for rock. You could save some dough by not going with the Anniversary Edition.

TY Palto.

I read somewhere that the aniv edition has upgraded components, better than the regular L-100.

They come in a special presentation crate. Numbered and signed. A lot of hullabaloo.

No store that has them wants to demo them cause of their special packaging.

Ive demoed the regular L-100's and the sounded meh to me

Definitive Technology BP2000, and you'll get (2) 15" powered subs that you need for rock. room-filling Wall of Sound, for around 600 used.
