Very interesting. Thanks for posting. No way to know what category of plastic the Mc remote falls under.

The remotes are injection molded from ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) which is dissolved with acetone. Using acetone to clean a McIntosh (or any plastic) remote is a real no-no!

Just so you know.

I'm not advocating doing this on a remote but I've used WD-40 as a cleaning solvent with great success on plastics. If you are going to replace the remote anyway, you may just want to give it a try. Just keep in mind YMMV.

Freddie, the new Mac remotes are great. If Ivan has them buy from him. If not pay in advance and wait. The old remotes are not that sticky. I just wanted some new remotes.

Thanks for the info gents. I meant to call Mc today, but got too far behind the 8-ball.

The suggestion of WD-40 is interesting. I'll probably start with some alcohol wipes and go from there. Sans the acetone of course.

I have the HR093 but I haven't used it, yet.
I am using a HR061 for my C2300.
The HR061 is almost kaput.

Will the HR093 adjust the loads for MC and MM phono stages?
Will the HR093 switch the output modes? (1 & 2).

I don't see any key or button on the HR093, for MM or MC.

It's weird. Rummaging through a lower nightstand drawer for something else, and bingo! - I found my old Harmony 650 which I used for about a week 5/6 years ago. I ditched it because I was too freaking lazy/stupid to take the time to learn what it can do and how to properly operate it.

I was able to regain access to my Logitech account and reconfigure its Activites to operate my MA8000, Oppo 205 and Denon DCD-A100. Now for at least rudimentary operations (On/Off, volume, play/stop/pause/eject) I can use one single (non-sticky) remote that takes the place of 3 others.

Obviously, I doubt the Harmony remote can get down into the McIntosh sub-levels for renaming input assignments, change input names, select TT loading, etc., but for basic everyday operations, it seems to do the trick.

I use a Harmony One plus Hub and mentioned to my wife just yesterday that she will be lost if it ever stops working. If it wasn’t for the Harmony she would never turn the system on. It took some programming but it turns on all devices, sets inputs, and other settings required with one button for 2 channel, movies, streaming, disc playing or whole house listening. I also use my tablet if needed.

I just looked and it does have most activity if not all activities for my C2700.
