Having lived with a C2500 for a while, my experience with its internal DAC indicates that the quality and brand of interconnects (including the digital interconnect) will significantly alter the sonic results for better or worse. Upgraded power cords also matter. YMMV.

When I compared the DAC of C2500 with the DAC in MCD500 the preamp used for the MCD500 DAC was ARC REF3 (connected with Van den Hul, The Mountain, 60 cm XLR), but almost everything else was equal.
The digital source was a NAD M50 connected to the DACs by a Nordost Blue Heaven digital interconnect via its RCA plugs, analog interconnects from preamps to MC452 was Cardas Clear, 1.5m XLR in both cases. Power cables was stock in all cases. As mentioned in my first post, I have great respect for the line stage of C2500 and rate it very, very close to, if not on par with, the ARC REF3 so I doubt that the preamp made the difference I heard. But if anyone else has a C2500 and an MCD500 they can try comparing their respective DACs. I would be very interested in hearing what they think... |

Has anyone paired the new ma352 with the mc452 using the ma352 to run the highs and mids and act as a pre to the 452 us g the 452 to run the lows?

Has anyone had issue with the Mc452 turning itself off? I have mine paired with the c500 preamp. All devices plugged into a ps audio p15 power regenerator. This has happened about 3/4 times in the last two weeks, every time I’ve been out of the room. I’ve come back into my listening room to find only the amp turned off- all other units are powered up. I’ve read about McIntosh having default to shut itself off should it not be receiving any single, however I’ve left the unit on a very low volume level playing thru a separate DAC. Not sure if my Wifi went out thus stopping music for extended period of time, or it being the low volume levers not registering a signal, but that seems unlikely. Looking for answers or anyone with a similar issue.

I had a similar issue some time ago with my 452 but it was the ‘power control’ cable linking it to my pre amplifier. In your scenario it doesn’t sound like this should be the problem but thought I’d mention it just in case…
