What's really impressive is that a year ago the Viper's were pure crap. They have done much to improve the chassis/handling and getting the power to the ground

Actually Don the Viper was re-intoduced back into ALMS mid-season last year I believe, they now have the big 8 litre motor and chassis working in harmony, evident by today's race.

Isn't that pretty much what I said?

Don, 'pure crap' was a 'stretch' given their start up.

Well it's not like the Viper has never raced before. Lots of hype when the got back in the game but as you know they did struggle in the four races they participated in. But no matter how you label their performance last season it's good to see the running up front again.

That's pretty harsh. The Viper SRT and the race program were both brand new last year. It takes time to teeth and develop a race car. I applaud them for reaching the top of the podium after only a year.

As I recall Corvette needed some time to work on their ZR1 GT2 race car, and they had the advantage of continuity with the GT1 race program leading into their GT2 program. Viper had to start all over after being several years absent from ALMS, and they never had the works team GM provides for Corvette.

I'd hate to see reaction when I actually mean to be harsh.

Don, you aren't having a bad 'Chardonay Day' out there are you ?? .....LOL !

On the serious side remember had not the Porsche crashed and the saftey team dragging their heals in getting the car removed, so the race could not finish under green (Viper would have needed fuel) the Vette's would probably finished 1 - 2. Also remember the Vette's have a 50kg weight disadvantage !

If you want to talk about pure crap, look to the Panoz Abruzzi program. What a joke. The Jaguars weren't much better. They really never got off the ground. The Viper SRT is different. It started at the back a year ago and built up what is looking like a solid race program.
