Yes. It was a closed YouTube presentation for invited press which came with the restriction that the information should not be disclosed until 9/1.

The only reason I posted about it was that I had said there was to be an announcement within 10days in a previous post. I did not anticipate the embargo.

They actually let a known B&W apostate like yourself attend their secret briefing?

Let's say we have a long and complicated relationship.

Let's hope that the D4 lures you back into the welcome fold of the faithful.

Has there ever been an embargo that lasted so long? I've definitely seen it in the past where press were given a heads up like a week or so in advance so they could prepare their writeups or videos for the day the embargo lifted ( t least in the tech/PC world) but a time period of over a month, that seems crazy.

Well, with the release of the D3 series, the length of the embargo was set to hold the public release until B&W could ship adequate stock to their outlets around the world and the announcement would coincide with the availability. If the same strategy is in place here, the additional time might be a reflection of current (and different) situation in supply/shipping/logistics.

As an added bonus for B&W--a long embargo enables them to sync with monthly publications.

In general, an embargo is designed to balance the risk of a leak against the benefit of synchronized information. Since these are unlikely to be earth-shaking products that will turn the industry on axis, it is unlikely that people will break the embargo even if it is a month long

I doubt that. The print pubs have longer lead times than that.
