Pete, I agree with you about WW power cables. I own one copper Electra and several Silver Electra power cables and the step up to the Silver was plainly audible and significant.

In short, wires are designed by what's being transmitted, so type of conducter (metal, glass etc), size, twists, insulation and shielding are just a few things that go into their design.

Yes, yes he does make it easy.

I jumped into the WW cable upgrade some time ago to replace an old, and diverse, collection of interconnect cables.

I was hoping for an improvement. The results were beyond what I had hoped for or expected and I attribute that to WW's neutral characteristics.

WW products do nothing to alter the electrons delivering the notes. They are so neutral that a good recording sounds great and a poor recording or source is immediately recognized as sub-par.

Do I want or need to upgrade? Nope...I've reached that state of complete enjoyment and the WW products have brought the best out of my system especially with the help of our master enabler, MasterLu.

Wireworld in my book turns conventional cable wisdom upsidedown.
I'm running a seven metre pair of Silver Eclipse RCA interconnect from a Manley Steelhead preamp (totally suited to drive long cables) into my homebuilt high pass crossover caps enclosure thence onward via a one metre RCA pair of the same cable to two Manley tubed power amplifiers. Conventional wisdom would dictate balanced cables but here there is not a trace of hum or noise and my Infinity RS1b speakers are sounding absolutely glorious.
I really don't know how Wireworld weave their magic. I'm from an electronics background and have previously built many hundreds of cables for Reference Imports UK but I must say this to me defies all logic.

Default How do WireWorld cables work their magic?

AudioGremlin, your post peeked my interest. A British studio guy that posted on another website who I found to be very intelligent, articulate, and knowledgeable about studio gear and cables used in top UK top studios argued that there was no way that my WireWorld cables could sound any better than the standard studio cables he uses in the top studios he works in. Any differences in cables would be imperceptible he argued, and this was the majority view. Further, WW cables would have to defy the laws of physics to do this he insisted! Well I do trust my ears and I can hear that my WW Silver Eclipse cables do sound better--it's not only just my illusionary perceptions as he argued. We disagreed to a deadlock on this WW cable issue. The question of why WW cables sound better and is there scientific proof of this has been in the back of my mind ever since.

The above quote may not offer a perfect "scientific" explanation as to just how WW cables work their "magic", but it is perhaps the best general explanation I've heard, in terms of the end result.

Since I've recabled my main system's entire loom with WW silver eclipse interconnects and Silver Eclipse speaker cables, a very real transformation has taken place.

I may have made the same statement as above, perhaps replacing the word "neutral" (or neutrality if you like) with "honesty".

We've heard talk about Cable "A" sounding "laid back", or Cable "B" sounding "bright". I believe "neutral" is indeed the best term to apply here.

The biggest difference I heard was when the WW Silver Eclipse speaker cables were installed. "Profound" was the best way to describe the improvement. Nuances before unheard or barely heard came through with stunning clarity.

But not only that, the "neutral" characteristics described by Michael are plainly apparent. If a given recording is on the "bright" side, it will sound "bright". If another recording mix is more "laid back", it will sound very much "laid back".

It's very interesting indeed. Needless to say, a "great" recording will really sound great. And a rather poor recording will plainly show its shortcomings.
