Kekko and Zoe
Here's my two angels (old pics, but they're still full on).
Zoe, Oct '07 (left): pure Jack Russell (mum) / pure Australian Red Terrier Kekko, June '06: pure Jack Russell (mum) / the neighbourhood Staf At play: Dogs saw the mollymawk (medium-sized albatross) before me and ripped the lead from my hand and were gone. I chased, but stopped for a few snaps here and there on the way. I ended up circling the bird real close a few times trying to protect it while getting the lead. The dogs were also circling but faster than me, with Kekko barking, making the bird snap it's bill more (it was a fricken big bird/bill!) Would have made a good video. No molly, dog or I was harmed in the making of this photo. No oyster catchers were harmed in this one. And even more play (seriously, they weren't fighting): Last edited by Stretch; 03-27-2016 at 07:19 PM. |

Great shots!! I have two Rotties that have fun like your dogs. They each weigh over a hundred pounds each so I stay out of their way when they are playing. I don't want any unexpected body slams . Thanks for the pictures.

Great action sequence. What camera/lens did you use?

Thanks guys.
I've had lots of photo sessions at the beach with those two, all similar to the above. They make for great action shot subjects. Unfortunately Zoe is quite wilful (and I was slack with her obedience training) and getting her back on the lead became more of a problem each trip. And Kek's, who is far more obedient, would chase the odd car given the chance. So both stay on the lead now. Quote:
Nikon D300, usually with AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm (135-450 35mm equiv) f/4-5.6G IF-ED. Also have AF-S DX Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, but probably not used in the above photos. I usually set the camera to aperture priority and lens to it's widest aperture. Camera would then automatically select the fastest shutter speed for me. I'd then only have to worry about framing the dogs, then hold down the shutter button for a quick burst of shots. |

Great pics. The look on the dark one's face one kinda reminds me of my ex wife when she found out I bought more stereo gear!
I love the airborne pic!!

Thanks GreginNH1. Scary ex man! Was that before or after she learnt the price? Or did you fib a little? My standard line for non-believers is "over x amount" like "over a grand" for a $10k piece, but I imagine that may not work that well with wives though.

Back to Kekko and Zoe - those pics have reminded me how much I miss my two dogs. All pets earn a special place in our hearts so quickly. It's a shame they don't live as long as humans.
