Default Large TV Suggestions

We may be moving within the next two months. We located a brand new home with triple the space for my audio system. (Can we say new speakers ). Hopefully our home will sell quickly.

With the increase in space for the audio system also comes a larger TV and media room.

We will be sitting some 25 feet from the TV. What size and brand name of TV (or projection system) would you suggest? (not interested in Sony, warranty problems they never covered after 6 months of ownership - NEVER EVER Sony). And I don’t like Samsung products.

Any way I’ve been looking at 77 LG OLED TV.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I moved two years ago but moved down from a 3600 square-foot house to a 2100 square-foot house for retirement. I actually have an LG 77 inch TV but only sit about 12 feet from it. It works great. That is about as far away from it as I would like. In my man cave, which is about 25 feet wide deep I have JVC projector going to 130” screen. Seating is 13 feet from the screen and behind are two subwoofers and surround speakers I think sitting 25 feet from any TV or screen would be the best with a really big screen

Thanks, that’s excellent information. I figured I’d have to go with a projector screen. I may just put a 77 LG in a smaller spare bedroom. That would put me 12’ or so from the screen.

I highly recommend an LG OLED TV - and believe it or not, we've heard the stories how Walmart is trying to do their best with their infrastructure to beat AMAZON.

Well, they do.

I bought a LG OLED83C3PUA (83 inch, C3 processor) for couple thousand less than the LG website, and $400 less than AMAZON's best price. Free shipping to boot and was delivered by a third-party trucking company. He called prior and carried it over his shoulder to the front steps: I was like, damn - don't drop it (only weighed something like 90+ pounds, but the box is humongous). I assisted in getting it into the temporary space in the dining room.

You can go higher in processors (from a C3) to a G or something; but IMO, unless you're a hard-core gamer, not needed.

LG's support is first rate, IMO.

Best to you,

Bob

Awesome! And thanks for the where to buy info. I’ll probably buy it from Best Buy and have them install it. My wife and I lifting 90lbs sounds like I’ll be crippled for the remainder of my life. Getting old isn’t fun.

Thanks again.

As our 8yr-old Samsung is becoming badly 'screen burned', was in Best Buy looking at phones and dropped into their Home Theater' room. Probably had 20 flat screens on display and, to my eyes, the LG OLED was the best. Was surprisingly 3-dimensional.

About 2+ weeks ago I was just stupid and used a bar stool to gain a 2-foot advantage to clean an upper shelf in my, now CD closet. The bar stool slid like lightening on the hardwood floor and off I land on my back, hit my head on the floor, with my right leg getting caught up in stools support braces.

I was fine after the fall, but my right leg turned bright red from severe hematoma, but I could walk on it fine -- mowed the yard in fact a few days later. Then 5-6 days after, I couldn't walk on it.

I was supposed to attend AXPONA & the day before the flight, it took me an hour to get out of bed on the 2d floor & downstairs to the screened in porch.
Cancelled the flight within that hour.

Went in for x-rays at Urgent care and 6 showed nothing. A few days later, with severe pain, I went to an orthopedic group and after 15 x-rays: no hairline cracks nor after a sonic scan, no buildup of clot material.

It will just take time - 4-7 weeks. Without the assistance of a walker a friend lent, I'd be in stationary.

Of course, in hindsight, I have 3 Werner ladders and 2 stepstools, but the bar stool was a quick solution I've used many "lucky" times before.

Since the incident, I've learned how lucky I was. A friends dad fell off a 2-foot ladder, broke 3 ribs and punctured a lung. Another reported a friend of theirs fell off a 4-foot ladder in the kitchen, hit his head on the granite countertop, broke his neck & died 2 days later. Finally, another, losing his balance on a 4-foot ladder, again in the kitchen, fell and is a quadriplegic today. He's 38.

Morale of the story - be careful: ladders can be widow makers & know your limitations. It does suck getting old -- but amends of injured take longer too.

I believe Walmart also offers an install option -- after delivery. It's rather inexpensive. Check the Walmart web site for details.
