Well, I don't have much to compare it to because I've never used another preamp so my experience is very limited. The only comparison I've heard is with my Lyngford TDAI-3400 which admittedly isn't fair. I can only speak to the 088/911MK3 combo which has far greater resolution and distinction amongst individual instruments while simultaneously having much better integration. For example violins no longer sound as if they're floating on top of the recording, they sound as if they're blending in more, but still distinct. French horns also sound warmer and richer, but less forward. Both mid bass and low end is more controlled. One friend remarked that the 088/911 combo sounded more tubelike than he expected, but I can't confirm since I've never heard a tube amp (other than my son's Two Rock and Carr amps).

Sorry I can't be more helpful - I imagine a few years from now after swapping components more often, I'll be able to tell you more! I'm super curious how your 077 sounds comparatively. I was also tempted to get the 808 MK5 but I wanted to start with the 088/911 combo and get intimately familiar with it first.

Hi all, new to this forum and curious to just chat with folks. I have been in a little bit of a transition equipment wise of late, and trying to integrate a new to me Accuphase C 260 preamplifier to the mix. My system, at the moment is: Accuphase A20 V Class A Amp., Cayin CS 55A Integrated Tube Amp, the Accuphase C 260, Clearaudio Concept with Satisfy Arm and Hana ML Cartridge, Icon Audio PS1 Mk II all tube Phono Preamp, Gustard X26Pro Dac, Wilson Benesch Square 2 Speakers, and 2 REL 5x subs.

I like to switch between the Tube and Class A Amps depending on what I'm listening to at the time and which way I want to go.

Like you, I built my rack. Used 3x3 hardwood and 1" all-thread rod/nuts/washer for the frame and polished granite for the shelves. Very pleased with its flexibility. Looking forward to seeing yours.
