Feedback is getting to the cartridge. HRS makes custom sizes at no extra charge (they charge by the total square inches). However the production time is 12~16 weeks.

I have not checked the phono cable, yet. I do plan to swap out tomorrow but honestly do not feel this is the cause since it is a good quality cable. I do believe Tony has the correct train of thought piinting toward an airborne vibration but not able to pinpoint the cause yet. If it is airborne I am not convinced an expensive platform will cure the problem. And, yes, Tony, I have been chasing this anomaly for years.

In my experience at least, if the noise occurs just while playing music, it may be airborne vibrations from a room mode exciting the stylus. In the situation you show in your video, when you’re not playing music, it’s most likely small mechanical vibrations getting to the platter and being picked up by the stylus. This could be from the motor, if it’s running, or from other sources in the room or even elsewhere in the house, e.g. a refrigerator on the floor below, a water pump, an air conditioner, etc. If it’s at an excessive volume level, it could even be airborne background noise in the room.

As Ivan points out, an HRS platform may be the solution, but if you can identify the source and frequency of the vibration, that will help guide you.
Yes, Tony, I have been chasing this issue for a while. The platform my TT is on has Stillpoints Ultras supporting the platform plus the Classic feet on my Aries have the Symposium inserts in them. My listening room is on a second floor and not sure what could be causing the mechanical vibrations - maybe the PSAudio P5 that is sitting on the shelf below? No clue. I have an extra set of Stillpoints minis I will try under the P5 tomorrow. All great thoughts being shared here. Many thanks to all contributors.

I would start by checking the degree of your isolation - knuckle rap, etc

I would then isolate the electronics and cables

Turn off anything that is not necessary and work your way backwards

Only issue with working backwards is I need the amp/pre/regenerator on the be able to hear all of this $hit happening. I am thinking my PS Audio P5 may be producing some mechanical interference. Tomorrow I will put some Stillpoints minis under it to see if this helps. Thank you Joey for the suggestion and feedback.

Have you spoken to SteveL at VAS. He is very knowledgeable/helpful.
Have you tried lubing the bearing in your TT? Pretty simple process and it may be dry.
Do you have a rumble filter in the C2300? May be all you need. Again, if were me I would give Steve a call and ask him.
Is it only the one channel in your video or both channels?
Another thought is that the noise may be coming thru the power supply in your C2300. If 100 is the max and you've go it up to 85 that's a bunch of gain and may be near its limits.
Since nothing is moving in your video it doesn't not appear to be mechanical feedback other than the possibility of transformer hum feeding back acoustically.

Glenn,
Thank you for you suggestions. I have not reached out to Steve but I have asked someone else who is very versed in the analog world. I did have a KAB RF-1 rumble filter attached to my system at one time but I felt it filtered too much and left the music sterile. My bearing and motor were lubed in Jan. and noise is in both channels. The C2300 does not have a rumble filter feature but was told by McIntosh one was built into the phono stage. I don’t often listen to music above 75 but there are times I do want to open it up. The amount of money I do have in my system I would expect to be able to enjoy my music at a louder volume without spending thousands on isolation. I realize the price to pay to play in this hobby can be excessive but I do have a limit I am willing to spend at this time.

When I had a Classic Signature I had the pop sound upon shutoff etc. It was plugged into a now sold PS Audio P10. I experimented with a Humbuster X and got less pop. Eventually I bypassed the P10 and plugged the TT into a separate circuit and had no pop. And although I had no feedback I swear it sounded better once plugged into a separate line. I can't prove it but my gut feeling was that it was some sort of grounding anomaly. Cart was a Ortofon Cadenza Black. Preamp MC C1000 through the SS portion.

VPI has a solution for the pop on start up and will supply the part for a DIY fix.
