Verite La Muse 2000.

It did not suck.

Also went to a little restaurant named Canteen. Great little spot - highly recommended if you are in for a perfectly paced 4-course in SF.

I don't get Verite at all. The reviews are great but it always disappoints when I have it

It has a weird life cycle.

Release->2 yrs = huge and open. Able to drink with significant airtime.
Yr3->yr10= completely closed; do not touch.
Yr10+ = go for it. Still decant, will still take 1+ hr to start opening up.

I don't get a lot of the 100 point reviews - but mid-90's are certainly deserved. Potent wine up front with a long, silky finish.

I will say this - Verite works best with food pairing. For some reason just by itself is hard to grasp (though with some good cheese 'n bread it works magically).
