Default v2 ground cables

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned here yet, but it looks as though Shunyata has produced a v2 series of ground cables. What I found interesting was that Alpha, Delta and Venom all use their VTX copper wire. The difference between these seems to the gauge, with it running 8, 10 and 12 respectively.

Sigma is also 8 gauge, but it uses their VTX-Ag wire that has an inner core of silver. More here:

I wonder how much the gauge of the wire makes with an additional ground wire over the grounding in the power cables and equipment. Unless you are trying to protect from lightning strikes, it seems like "large enough" should be enough to handle most systems. I don't know what the criteria would be for deciding the gauge of wire would be. It seems like that would be just a guess or try it and see if it works. That may be a question for CGabriel of Shunyata. I don't have a strong understanding of grounding and my assumptions could be way off.

Does Mr Gabriel still have a presence here? I do not remember seeing any posts from him for awhile…

It makes a really big difference. One that is very easily audible. One can very easily hear the improvement in audio quality as you move up from Venom to Delta to Alpha, for example. And, you'll also hear more improvements as you add more ground cables to your components. A surprising improvement I observed was connecting a Shunyata ground cable from the ground terminal on my EtherREGEN to the GP-NR terminal on my Everest. The improvement was not subtle. Same thing when connecting a ground cable from an Aurender or Lumin streamer's chassis ground post(s) to Everest GP-NR.

And, thank you, Uptone, Aurender, and Lumin for installing a proper ground terminal on your wonderful components! Why doesn't everyone do this anymore?

The best analogy to get a handle on the differences is to think of the improvements you get when go up a level on the power cord.

Speaking of ground terminals, I installed one on my C-J LP70S power amp last night...now I can connect a ground cable from it to a GP-NR ground terminal.

Shunyata is coming out with a new grounding system very soon. It may offer different grounding cables with it - not really sure.

Shunyata Altaira. Two different units; a Chassis Ground and a Signal Ground.

So those interested in Shunyata grounding may desire to wait and see what new products are coming out.

It will utilize the same product lines of grounding cables currently available.
