What brand of Grill do you use/own?

I looking to buy a propane or natural gas powered "super grill"

It should be well made, LARGE to VERY LARGE, heavy-duty, bullet proof and have a very high BTU output on a cart, not built in.

What do you suggest? Please be specific and give examples.

If you like charcoal, I recommend the Big Green Egg. I have the large BGE and it is the best grill I have ever owned. It grills, smokes and bakes. You can maintain low heat for smoking or crank them up for pizza. It does an incredible job on grilled meats and vegetables.

I love my Fire Magic Echelon Diamond gas grill. Mine has the window, but I opted out of the remote control self opening top (Power Hood).

You didn't mention whether you need a built in or cart model - I have the E790 single side burner cart myself as well as a huge stainless steel hood since mine is up against a wall in a lanai enclosed on 3 sides. The E1060 is the biggest cart, and comes either single or double side burner. Or you can get the equivalent built in unit if that's what you need. There are several nice high end grill carts out there besides the Echelon Diamond (although the Echelon is the only one with the window and the Power Hood I believe). I recommend that you get one infrared burner (maybe two if you go with the 4 burner model) - they work well for searing (although there is a bit of a learning curve). And with the dedicated smoker drawer/burner, you can easily put wood chips (or a few charcoal briquettes) in and get a real barbeque experience. I was a charcoal diehard but not anymore.

Howard, I agree with the manual lid lift. My arms still work. After a series of BBQs, isn't the window completely smoked over?

The window doesn't get dirty that fast, and it's not hard to clean. Of course, cleaning a gas grill in general is not the funnest part of being a grill master.

The Power Hood is strictly for bragging rights IMO.

FireMagic Diamond Echelon here too. 4 burner+infrared+smoker. No hydraulics for the hood and no remote control. So far it is a great grill. Mine is hardwired with Natural Gas
