I read a review from a purchaser on another web forum, last night, and he had all positives to say about it and said he is keeping it.

This was on one of those "science" forums and other users in the thread skewered him for not having precise enough equipment for setting accurate volume levels between the players he compared.
He used test tones, an SPL, and adjusted the volume on his pre-amp which he said had something like 102 steps of volume adjustment.
A few people on that forum said that wasn't accurate and therefore any differences he heard, were due to the level difference between players.

But the purchaser liked the SA-10!

So do I... I currently have it driving HiFiMan HE-1000v2s from its headphone socket! Sure beats SA-7S1 for SQ, but that doesn't have headphone output.

Not sure how long I have it and I nearly died last Friday (really) so may not be able to write very much about the SA-10 to help others. We shall see. So far, very impressive.

Assuming that nearly dying was a temporary situation, are you auditioning options to replace the SA-7S1?

Please take care of yourself , without your good health not much else matters! We can wait (although maybe not patiently) for your thoughts on the SA-10.

It is amazing how, when the human body thinks that dying is going to be a more permanent situation, it invokes the most intense Survival Instinct you could ever imagine and gets you fighting for your life. I was reminded of a time that I nearly drowned in the Med, but this time was really something... I was SO ANGRY at whatever it was, causing my possible demise.

I don't want to fill up the forum with non-audio posts, so to answer your question, Yes, I am auditioning options to replace the SA-7S1. I thought it would be the PS Audio DirectStream duo, until Marantz decided they couldn't lose me as a Customer and fought back!

John, get better soon!

Any comparisons between the PS Audio duo and the Marantz?

Bart... I do not have the PS Audio onsite yet and it will not be possible to have both together anyway. If I was well, I would struggle to do a decent job of reporting back to all, a la Dan. My initial thought is that any comparison will be apples with oranges.

Thank you Bart. I am actually having a good time @ 04:26 in the morning. Roxy Music: Avalon SACD playing through my HE-1000v2s from the SA-10 headphone socket. And it downmixes the Multichannel to 2-channel if desired.

I shall have to take notes...
