I'm using a Madrigal CZ Gel Balanced (XLR) it's an old cable, but it plays very neutral

I have both, for synergy, I should stick with the C-47, but Esoteric is very good too!

first post of many I hope! I own a E-800 with a C-47 and I have owned the C-47 for almost a year. I love it, I have longed to understand the phase switch. I am using a Clear Audio Innovation compact with SME 312S arm and Kiseki Purple heart, with Cardas Clear din to XLR into the C-47 and Cardas Clear XLR from the Pre into the 800. I have read many threads regarding the phase switch on the back of the C-47, but could never really get a grip on what that switch is actually doing other than switching the hot pin (is this not achieved of the phase switch for that input on the front of the 800).

I would certainly enjoy getting feedback on this from some fellow users.

Thanks, I have enjoyed reading many informative threads over the years.

Regards,

Dave in Canada

Hi I'm not Accuphase owner ( yet) but from my understanding Japanese use reverse polarity for balanced inputs compared to US or North America. So anytime you mix and match Accuphase with US brands and use balanced inputs or outputs use the phase switch on the Accuphase to match the phase for optimum sound.

Have you tried this against the E-02? I’m looking at both for my next upgrade. I was planning on the Esoteric before this was released.

I owned the E-02 and the C-37 (predecessor to the current c-47). To my ear and in my system, I preferred the accuphase AFTER it was broken in. This one, though, will be very system and listener specific.
