Me too Mike! I like to think I'm open minded but this really stretches my ability to comprehend.

I use a 12 piece Eighth Nerve Response system.
Works great and was easy to dial in.

Here is a review of Eighth Nerve Response system.
I have no idea why this reviewer picked "Black" pieces in a white room.
Maybe it just showed up better in the photos.

I'm currently using these diffusers from Agora Acoustics Streama Series / along with Shakti Hallographs. I cannot say enough good about the Hallographs. An amazing transformation to the room and fully adjustable according to listener preference.

What does it mean that both levels of your floor are floated?

I am building a house, and will have my main system in a large living room (basically 20 x 30 with TV, fireplace, pool table), and can pretty much do whatever I need to to make the room sound great.

Floating floors do not help to make the room sound great, but help to minimize noise coming into or out of the room. All of that quoted post, other than the last sentence, are referring to the levels of isolation his room has (so he can crank up the volume without disturbing others in the house, and so kids or whoever running around in other areas of the house won't disturb him)

A "floating" floor is just that - usually using springs or other means to literally "float" above whatever its connected to. This way the floor can vibrate from sound without passing it on to the other areas of the house.

Edit: And if your comment was only in reply to the "both levels" - he meant he has a floating floor, with a floating riser in part of the room.

  1. For older homes with timber floors & under house crawl space, you can glue a dry flow reticulated foam underneath paying attention to where your equipment & speakers are positioned.
  2. For those with a screen or TV panel between their loudspeakers, use a sheet of acoustic convoluted foam embedded inside wadding overlayed with your favourite furnishing fabric. Be sure that your choice of fabric does not have too high of a thread count. If it's too dense, it will reflect too much. Stitch in an elastic border around the perimeter, so it slips on your panel like a sock. When the Lady finishes machining this project, I will post images. In the meantime, I have been placing the raw foam held with a beach towel for critical listening.
