The 12 month warranty says it all. If you are successful in arguing a statutory claim, eg. because "they" no longer carry spare parts, "they" will determine a pro-rata compensation amount for which you may accept after retrieving "their" property.

My last flagship top-of-the-line you-beaut premium model series 9 55" MY2009 lasted 2.5 years with exactly 3500hrs on its clock. It came with a 3 year warranty. It could not be repaired by "them" so "they" made me sign an NDA. I conceded defeat after being wound down by the time & implicit personal cost it was taking to get a satisfactory result & ended up taking the "thin" cheque on offer before telling them to shove it.

This is "their smart" philosophy you have now bought into. Let's hope you are luckier & get some value for money.

So now for me, It's a flagship Sony with a 5 year warranty.... so far couldn't be happier with the picture quality, fingers crossed...

BTW, all of Sony's Inbuilt IPTV features actually work too. so for me, it is 1 HDMI 1.4a return audio channel cable from the HT pre-processor is all I need. The Sony also regularly updates its firmware automatically, so that is a promising ongoing commitment they are demonstrating towards their products.

LEDs by Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, LG, Vizio, etc.; what's best?
What YOU you like personally in your own room, and from your OWN experience over time.

All the manufacturers make some great models, and also some lesser ones.
Yesterday was, and tomorrow who knows.
We all have our own preferences; in video as in audio.

* Right now behind my flat panel plasma HDTV, I only have three cables plugged in.
One HDMI from my pre/pro, and the other HDMI directly from one of my several 3D BD players.
The third cable is a digital Toslink cable, out to my pre/pro.

I don't plug the Internet cable, no PC cable, no satellite or cable box TV, no USB cable, and no nothing else.

Bought a Panasonic plasma after a year without a TV. Love the plasma, but I never thought I would need more than three HDMI connections, nor would I miss having analog out, in addition to toslink. Big mistake.

BD player
CD/DVD player (older Denon that plays discs the BD player can't. I need an Oppo.)
Apple TV
Toslink out to my integrated

Power chord. :-)
