There is no standalone App that I know of other than Remote and I'm not a big fan of that one.

That sounds like screen sharing logs you out but doesn't close the app allowing you to access it again. I've had that happen to me too and it is a pain in the neck.

Well they have an app called "Remote Desktop" which i use to connect to my office computer, it works really well but I dont want to have 2 desktops, that defeats the purpose. I just want an easy way to control Itunes when I'm working on my laptop.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I just use screen sharing. I can minimize it and leave it running all day if I need to multitask on my mac book. It works really well. You should try it.

It controls the entire mac mini with your lap top ie the desk top of your mac mini will appear and you can control your iTunes or any other program
