both my imac and Macbook are on the same network, which is easy. I'm also going to look into my firewall settings and see if maybe that's the problem. I'll get back to everyone after I tyr all this.

Well--SUCCESS!
What finally worked was bypassing the eero mesh network, and running off the Internet provider's network directly. That changed the IP address, "My Bryston" still does not recognize the BDP, but putting the new IP in Safari did, and got me Manic Moose, which I updatedand which played tunes off my local storage. Then I tried Roon with no success at first, till I remembered I needed to set it up in Manic Moose. Worked a charm, now enjoying all the tunes I want. Thanks to all for your help and suggestions. I will try going back to Eero some time just to see if that will work now, but it's not really necessary at this point.

Just to give an update on my situation in case someone has a similar issues. The Xfinity technician came out the other day. A very nice and knowledgeable individual. It helped that he took an interest in all my audio gear. After some time talking about the issues, looking at my network, logs and signal strengths he deducted the break is happening at either my router (Orbi Mesh) or the ISP "head" . The ISP "head" being where Xfinity houses there equipment. Upgrades, equipment changes, reboots etc. My personal guess, my router because only the hardlines go down but the wireless stays up.
Since the Orbi Mesh is my responsibility I decided to create static IP addresses for all my audio/video equipment that is hardwired. So far so good. I've cleared out all my logs and cache so if it happens again I will have a fresh set of data. If it happens again and it doesn't seem to be the Orbi's fault the Xfininity tech gave me contact information of a person at their office who loves these types of challenges. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to make that call.

I would wager dollars to donuts that assigning the static addresses will solve your issues.

Good luck! I had similar issues a few years back, without a mesh network. I was using an all in one box from xfinity - went separates (i.e. basic high speed cable modem and separate wifi router) with my own equipment and no issues since.
Do you have any ethernet switches in your network? Odd that hardwired is going down, not wireless. Hardwired is usually the most bullet proof.
