I hate it for you. My advice is to do nothing unless you send it back to Wilson for a factory repair that will be as good as new. Please don't make it worse. When your upset it's easy go for the "quick fix."

I hate to say this but if I were a buyer I'd rather have a non touched up speaker. This amounts to a blemish, a chip. I think anything other than a perfect factory repair only makes it worse. I have had this happen to me. You will feel so much better when you receive your speaker back from Wilson in perfect condition. But this is only my opinion. Again, I am so sorry this had to happen. Get your dealer involved right now. Properly fixing this may not be nearly as painful as you think.
To make you feel better let me tell you what happened to me. I own a 2009 Toyota Prius. I rarely open the rear doors because the rear seats are set flat. So I get in some kind of a hurry and leave the rear passenger side door open while the car is in the garage. I go in the house and get involved in a minor emergency. It happens you know. Then I have to go on an unexpected errand based on the emergency. So in a hurry I go out get in my beautiful little Prius that I really really like and on the way out of the garage the car comes to an abrupt stop when the open rear door meets the side of the garage door. Oh the pain of it! I went to an after market repair shop and they repaired the damage but the door just didn't look right. It was sprung albeit only very slightly. To make a long story short the whole door had to be replaced but when the dealer did it, the repair was totally indistinguishable from the original door. I initially felt like a total fool but when the repair was done properly I felt so much better. Everbody knows what you are going through and your dealer should help you get through this. Hi, everyone, I am really appreciated your cheering.
I am in contact with local dealer and also directly to factory, local dealer need picture of the damage area, factory said can send small amount of same paint or for more costly option, that I send entire speakers to repair. Deb, I do appreciate your response, my Sophia is Desert Silver and serial number 3488. Jerron told me that it is difficult to send paint via Fedex or UPS. I guess that may be because paint is categorized as " dangerous goods" or flammable liquid, wihch have some restriction when carry by plane. But it can be done, I've carried them before. Now I must think very seriously, that " how long" These speakers will be with me, if I will live with them forever, I may let factory do the repair. If I am to sell them in a few years, I'd rather accept the lost of resale value. The location of the damage is on the side panel, near rear corner, so with the extreme toe-in setup procedure, it is really unnoticeable from listening position, but it will hurt every time when time to dust and wipe it. the size of the chipped are about 1mm in diameters, two of them ouch.... and for crying out loud, the XLR cables that did it ( ok I did it ) was just a cheap Oyaide cables.... and Sophia3 was not even in active duty at the moment, It was just stood quietly nearby. Again , thanks for every one, in future will post picture of "before" and " after " TOGA Last edited by TOGA; 03-30-2012 at 04:06 PM. |

As Jerôme told you, I had exactly the same accident, with an XLR CARDAS though...At the same place than you, side panel near rear corner; my WA are black.
You know what...I can live with that, it's invisible unless you want to go at the rear of the speakers, which is rare! I would like too getting a little bit painting from Deb, but I live in France, I'm not sure it's possible for her. So I guess you should forget it,relax and listen to music... |
