What pressing plant?
How/Where can you find information on what pressing plant put out a record? Im trying to find out who is pressing the new Joshua Tree by U2 and Bob Dylan The Essentials.
I've been getting some god awful stuff from "Quality Record Pressings" |

Just found the U2 - of course it was from "Quality Record Pressings" - it showed up with 7 inch scratches across the whole record on both LP. My Tom Petty box set is laughable. I bet they are doing the Bob Dylan as well. That showed up with a Johnny Cash record in it.

I wonder what happened because some of my very best vinyl was pressed at QRP.

The older records from 70s/80s you need to research based on the matrix stamps. Keep in mind back then there were plants all over the US so it can be daunting to find out. For the past 10yrs or so for me the best pressing plant in the world is Optimal Media GmbH, they are easy to ID as their matrix code starts with a 2 letter code B for vinyl then next letter designates the year, for 2020 the letter is K....so BKxxxxx is Vinyl pressed in 2020. You may also see a 2 letter code like MK which indicates the mastering engineer. Discogs is your best resource for in-depth info. Cheers! |
