40's big band vocal jazz via your phonotoneclassic internet radio station. Oddly addictive.

‘Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.’ –Socrates
"Dave Brubeck (piano) began his Columbia Records association on a second album of material that his quartet had cut during its spring of 1954 tour of North American college campuses, Paul and Dave's Jazz Interwoven (1954) being the first. Joining Brubeck are Paul Desmond (alto sax), Bob Bates (bass), and Joe Dodge (drums), whose support of Brubeck is uniformly flawless, ultimately producing what many consider as the most memorable music in the artist's cannon." |

This is nice Serge. Listening to the 24/44.1 stream on Qobuz. There is something very healing in Desmond's tone.

Oscar Peterson - Reunion Blues
Qobuz 24/88.2 I got inspired by my jazz friends to play some Oscar Peterson. Recorded in July '71, this is a very agreeable album. Pianist Oscar Peterson joins up with his old friends, vibraphonist Milt Jackson and bassist Ray Brown, in addition to his drummer of the period, Louis Hayes, for a particularly enjoyable outing. After a throwaway version of the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," the all-star quartet performs Jackson's title cut, Benny Carter's ballad "Dream of You," and four standards. Although not up to the excitement of Peterson's best Pablo recordings of the 1970s, this is an enjoyable album. © Scott Yanow /TiVo
