Knock on wood, no hum through my 211IA. Very nice amp, driving my Spendor 3/5's.

That it is, very impressed with mine driving my Vandersteen 2CE Signatures with ease. Sounds delightful in Triode. In fact they are sounding better at lower volumes than my usual amplification - Audio research SP16 and Opera Consonance Cyber 800 Mono Blocks.

Does not quite have a grip on the bass like the Cybers but if you did not compare you would not notice any bass lacking it is way beyond expectations in this department.
Dead quite on line inputs and only a hardly audible rush with my ear glued to the tweeter at full volume from the of board Phono Stage. Keep the Phono Stage power supply well clear of the Pnono stage its self.

It does vocals better than the other set up. Detail is amazing.
Best way to describe the difference - the Cybers are a rock concert and the Line Magnetic is a Night Club.

One hell of an Audio bargain these amps are.

Here’s the question, the 518IA amp has a really low background through my speakers, lower than the Leben actually. But the amp itself has an annoying hum, it’s an electrical hum.
I bought a used 518 and it had a horrible buzz/hum to it. I took off the bottom cover and saw on the right side the big blue wire that runs along the edge of the chassis was pinched by the center retaining screw of the cover. I moved the cable out of the way when I put the cover back on and now it is dead silent. The way they route that cable is not the best. I would check yours too and see if you have the same thing.

anyone have any experience with the 501gold series integrated? have a 211 I really like, but this one has me intrigued. haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but concerned the value proposition going out the window dropping 4250 for a line magnetic.

I believe the original poster of this topic - guitardave started with one, which then lead to his preference of the other. There are times when more power doesn't equal purity - nor musicality. But I'd be wrong.

currently have penaudio cenyas. not exactly efficient but still sounds pleasing to my ears. can't seem to make my mind up, went from the denon anniversary to a simaudio to the lm, and just to waste more money contemplating changing things up again.

If you like the speakers tonality, it seems like more tube power would make sense here. I see they are 86 DB, 4ohm, so the 100 watt 501 would seem to make sense. My 211 IA is driving an 86 DB Spendor, but they are an 8 ohm speaker. I am in a very small room as well. I assume you are using Ultralinear and not Triode on your 211.

normally I like triode especially at lower listening levels but runs out of oomph for the cenyas, so been doing more ultralinear. I tend to change things out every year despite feeling satisfied with my setups seemingly just to waste money. only thing that's been irking me is I can't help but feel limited in speaker selection with a tube setup though I do enjoy voices and the midrange sound in general with the el34s. I liked the kt120s in the audio research, and would've went that route if it weren't for the blowing resistor feature.

It sounds like tonality is your first priority. If so, I hate to say look at a more efficient speaker and keep the EL34's. Hard to say, since I don't know your speaker. In general, I prefer EL34 to KT88, with the right speaker. With my Spendor 3/5R, I figured chose an amp that plays to the strength of the speaker. I mean, it's not shaking the floor even with a ton of power. That said, if you're lovin those Cenyas, then they may want more tube power. Assuming your ARC w/ KT120's were driving the Cenyas, were you happy?
