i have read that natural fiber rugs sound better than synthetic fiber rugs or carpets. Does anyone agree or disagree?

Well, I read somewhere yesterday that a pure silk handmade minimum 500 years old Persian one will flatten your loudspeaker frequency output tremendously.....

A rug was just about the first thing I bought for my room. We have hardwood floors and the slap echo was really bad. The rug probably tamed at least 40% of the echo with furniture, bookshelves, and other room treatment doing the rest. Made a huge difference.

+1 for Persian rugs. Awesome for a listening room. My favourite are the Isfahani motifs. But no top notch silk blend while Jack the Staffy is around. He sometimes lays on the rug in our room. Last edited by MyPal; 02-01-2013 at 12:22 AM. |

You are very right, notwithstanding my jokingly post from before I fully agree that a balanced (in terms of damping) room is a basic (and affordable) way to improve acoustics.

5/8 duet underlay under my rug made a huge difference too

Wall covering
I had an annoying echo from a wall behind my sweet spot. A custom rug hanger, a Persian wool and silk on wool rig, a ladder and voila...no more echo...

Late to the party as per frickin' usual.
Handmade Persian. My dad bought it in Bahrain in 1967 from the woman who made this rug stitch by stitch. My dad has since passed on. The rug means a lot to me.
