Help Needed - Unable to Install Sooloos Control Mac
As I have upgraded my Fibre Broadband speed to 500MBps, was issued a new Dual Band Wifi modem (2.4GHz & 5.0GHz).
Although my speed had increased tremendously in all of my internet uses (video streaming etc, ..) encountered a strange problem. I am now unable to start up the Sooloos Mac in all my MacBook Pro's (2 of them). The iPad's work fine though. After thrashing the Sooloos Control Mac, tried installing and this same message keeps popping up: "Unable to find Sooloos System Core Please connect to a local network with an up-to-date Sooloos System in order to install Control:Mac" Anyone can help teach me how to reconnect back? Well, for sure, I have handed back the older ONE band wifi modem and as such can't use this back. Plus its an polder modem for a slower 300MBps speed. Now, I can only play and can't do the following: 1. Update any better cover art. 2. Update CD details (like reviews, etc, ..) 3. Import/Upload FLAC files. Meanwhile, I have also contacted local Meridian support to see if they help in any way. Anyone can help advise? Cheers

Are you using the same band on the mac as on the sooloos ?
I think on my mac, it treats each band as different networks. I could be wrong but it's easy to try. |

Yes ... I have tried BOTH bands on the MacBook, switching between 2.4GHz and the 5.0GHz and none really can install the Control Mac. I even tried switching to using my daughter's Windows laptop to try install Control PC, and the same issue happened. I am nearly at wits end as I have some CD's which I bought that can be ripped into Sooloos BUT can't change the cover art now. Somehow, I can still use the system to change/add verbiage, but not the picture. Sigh!

Have you tried connecting the macbook to the Sooloos via ethernet ?
It could be an issue coming from a change in the IP address since you changed router it would have given different address from the previous one. BTW, on my router I can give IP address based on the MAC number. This way I'm sure that the IP is always fixed. |

However, I don't know how to do it for the laptop. So far, I had tried connecting DIRECT - using Ethernet cable to the modem/router as the Sooloos and the result is still the same - it just won't install. Sigh!

Even if you put the Sooloos address in Safari ?

Ok, it worked this way.
1. Switched off MacBook Pro's Wifi. 2. Connect hard-wired to the router (that's connected to the Modem's output) that had all Sooloos connected to it. 3. Bingo, it worked. 4. However, once I disconnected the MacBook from the router and switched back on the Wifi, same situation - the Sooloos Control Mac just keep spinning and not be able to hook up to the Sooloos. IF I can find the IP address the router uses, and input into the laptop, then this should "stick" and stay connected every time. Question is how to find that. Well, at least, I have to thank you 'anti pop" for giving me the way out. Until I find a permanent fix to this issue. Thanks again!

When you connect the macbook on the router by ethernet. Go to system settings > Network > Ethernet then you'll see the IP given by the router to the macbook.
When you go on wifi (after disconnecting the ethernet) Go to the same place and instead of DHCP select DHCP with fixed IP. |

First step done and found that there are 3 different IP addresses. One which is used by the Sooloos. One which is shown as the Wifi and the last one as shown when I looked at the DHCP hard wired Ethernet. As for the second part, don't quite follow. Can you make it in easier steps as I can't seem to find the DHCP with Fixed IP after disconnecting the ethernet. Your help and advise would be most appreciated. Please help, Sorry for the non tech questions. I am IT dumb. Thanks

In the network pref pane, select Wifi then click on the advanced button.
In the TCP/IP tab, select DHCP with manual address (I wasn't in front of my mac before so I didn't have the exact name). Then you can enter the IP you want the macbook to have. Make sure you have the ethernet turned off before to avoid conflicts. |
